The Ultimate Decision

A Change Of Heart

In the next few weeks I want to try to break the mold that some of us can be in our walk with the Lord.  That mold is making God match our desires instead of trusting and relying upon the One who is brighter than the sun, can breathe out massive stars and knows you, yes YOU personally because He made you. That is so crazy that God made you and I for a specific purpose. But very few of us ever know what that purpose is. Why is that? Because we go off and do our own thing and then it is only when we get into trouble or over our heard that we call out to God.

When the prophet Samuel was going to find a new king for Israel God said this to Samuel.

1 Samuel 16:7 “But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart."

Most of us look at the outward appearance of a man and very seldom look at the heart. The problem is we don’t have enough time. Time is money and we view a lot of people not worthy of our time. That is a tough statement but very true. A lot of times we only associate with those people who can further our agenda or our career. So this is what I would like to do and I feel God directing me to do this. I feel that God wants us to slow down enough to see our “Own Hearts”. Now even though that may be scary it is the only way for us to come clean before a righteous God. It is also one of the ways to truly see what we need to change as many of us are oblivious to our sinful behavior. Let me clarify. Romans 3:23 says that we are all sinners. What I am talking about is sin that keeps on going and going without any change of heart.

1. We can read a lot of great self-help books that are inspiring but that isn’t us talking to God.
2. We can go to church and dress our finest but that isn’t talking to God.
3. We can get up early and pray but our hearts can be far from God.
4. Has our outward appearance become so hardened that we don’t know who we are anymore.

I would have to say that #4 is the one we struggle with the most. If we could see us how God sees us we would not worry, be downcast but have joy continually. If you have a routine that works in the morning to be with God that is great. But most people don’t. You can’t expect to know your best friend by spending an hour a week listening to how he is. At some point in order to have a friend you have to speak to them. If all you did was ask your friend for favors they wouldn’t be a friend very long. But in reality if we were to look at our prayer life it is more of asking than asking God what you can do for Him. I truly believe that this is the key.

First of all we need to put ourselves in a quiet place as that gives God our full attention. Then we listen. We ask “God please show me how I can serve you, forgive me for always asking for you to serve me.” Ask the Lord to heal your heart and  open up your heart to be open to ANYTHING God desires. Many times we come into prayer with our minds made up of what we want. These are all subjects we will discuss in more detail. But true peace and true joy will not flood our soul until we serve Jesus instead of asking Him to serve us. Now certainly there is a time and place to ask Jesus for help as He desires we do that. But we need to make sure that we are LISTENING to Him.

I truly believe that all the struggles we have faced and continue to face in our ministry are a way for me to show you “The Way” out. God has shown me His love when I didn’t deserve it and when I have failed Him.

I WANT ALL OF YOU TO EXPERIENCE THIS SAME TYPE OF FORGIVENESS AND HOPE.

What if you could live as though God loves you instead of thinking the hammer is going to drop on your sin? What if our God is bigger than that!!!!!!! That would open up a whole new life for many of you. So let’s get started.

Please e mail me the challenges that you are facing. The struggle or struggles that you can’t seem to get over. God loves it when we depend upon Him. You see, our outward appearance can be one of trust and a religious mindset when inside we are crumbling and don’t know how we will make it. God loves the broken hearted as that is when He shows up.

Start today by being honest with God and honest with yourself. Don’t worry what others think. They will only be around a short time. God will be with you forever.

Be wise and finally be honest with God what you are struggling with. We will talk more about how to do this consistently tomorrow.

Have a great day and expect great changes to take place.
