The Ultimate Decision

A Glimpse Of Home

What do you think about when I say the word “Home”? Some of you have moved around so much that you really can’t say and some of you are still living in the same town where you were born.  I think back to a fun time in my life growing up in a small town in Sarver, Pennsylvania. I still don’t think it has a stoplight! We had some great memories there so that would be the place. Memories have a lot to do with what we call and what we view as home. But in the course of our life our greatest memories will never come close to our future home, our real home in heaven for those who have put their faith in Jesus Christ.

I am going to share an incredible story with you that I believe will change your life. But before I do I want to talk to you about entrance into your new home. For a more detailed plan of Salvation you can view our website at   For a shorter version I want to mention one name on how to get into heaven. The “Thief” on the cross. As I have said before trying to be a good person, going to church, giving to the poor or being baptized and confirmed WILL NOT get you into heaven. Those are works as Ephesians 2:8,9 says. It is only by faith in Jesus that we are guaranteed eternal life. A life in heaven with Jesus. We have church splits over doctrinal issues about how to baptize, whether to put in pews or chairs and a host of other crazy issues. But this is why Jesus uses the Thief as a great example of how to get into heaven.

When Jesus was on the cross he was with a thief on either side of him. But one thief saw everything that Jesus did and believed.

Luke 23:39-43 “One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Christ? Save yourself and us!” But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.” Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom. “Jesus answered him, “I tell you the truth, today you will be with me in paradise.”

The thief believed and was saved. A simple belief like a child. This thief had no time to serve God, no time to be baptized or to do good works BUT he was given the free gift of heaven because he believed in Jesus. This should give us great hope to stop the merry go round of works to try to get into heaven. We ONLY do good works out of thankfulness for the free gift we receive. My desire for you is for you to know for sure that you are going to heaven. If you still do not know for sure please e mail or call me because it is the most important decision of your life.

Last night I was speaking with a woman that shared with me something she has only shared with a few people. A number of years ago her husband had a heart attack and was on life support for a few days before he died. At 3:00 in the morning she went into his room, held his hand and started to pray. She lifted her husband up to the Lord in the name of the “Father. Son and Holy Spirit”. As soon as she said Holy Spirit” the room filled with extreme light even though her eyes were closed. It was as though she was afraid to open her eyes as the light was so brilliant. As she was holding her husband’s hand she was now walking with him along a winding trail that was paved. Up ahead was the gate of heaven. She said the gate “Glowed” and was huge.

Revelation 21:21-23 “The twelve gates were twelve pearls, each gate made of a single pearl. The great street of the city was of pure gold, like transparent glass .I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp”

This is why the gate glowed. In heaven there is no need for light as God’s glory is more brilliant than the sun. Can you imagine this brilliance shining through a large pearl maybe 100 feet tall? Yes that is the gate and that is where she was told that it was not her time. She let go of her husband’s hand and he went to be with the Lord. At that moment she was back in the dark room in ICU but now with total peace. That morning they took her husband off the respirator but she already knew where he was?

Now I know this woman and she wouldn’t exaggerate or lie. She also said that she spoke in tongues and had never spoken in that language before. When she called out “Holy Spirit” God spoke through her. God comforts the broken hearted. But what got me last night was when she talked about the bright light in the room she broke down crying. She wasn’t crying of the loss of her husband it was weeping at seeing the Glory of the Lord. Have you ever been so overcome with emotion that you cried, not out of fear but out of “Awe”? That is why every knee will bow and ever tongue confess to Jesus when we see Him. His glory will be so overpowering that we will drop to our knees in reverence.

David Platt in his book “Radical” says

“Your life is free to be radical when you see death as reward.”

A lot of still see death as judgment instead of the beginning of our real life in our real home. I pray that today that the Lord gave you a glimpse of where you will go and the Glory that will be revealed to you if you are a Christian. So many of us are tied up in knots in this world because we are trying to make this world heaven. We build things trying to be comfortable when we live in a sinful, fallen world where Satan is the “Prince” of this world. No wonder we will always have anguish when our hope is here. TODAY, let us do the best job that we can with the talents God has given us. But let us start living a radical life seeing our earthy tent (death of the body) as our escape to glory, our escape to our real home. When we can let go of what binds us here on earth, then and only then will we truly be able to live a joyful life without fear and worry.

Have an awesome day and picture walking the streets of gold with Jesus.
